As a former teacher in China, I leapt at the opportunity to teach there. This was back in 2002. I worked in Shenzhen before it became the metropolis it is now. I used to love the shadier side…the secret back room in a deserted mall with the special knock we had to use to buy black market DVDs of the latest movies. Such a buzz. And then you never knew what quality you’ll get.
Loved the excitement. The tv reception beamed from Hong Kong which cut out when the sensitive news came on.
I can understand the apprehension. It takes commitment. Its mostly the 1 year unbreakable contract that was the hardest sale for me.
