BBC 3 Idents
BBC 3
Created by animator and director Robert Strange, BBC 3 launches a series of idents designed to repel and repulse the viewer.
Nah, not really. I’m squeamish over walking hands that make faces and do weird shit. Maybe it’s the colours used or the choice of fingering. These hands are cleverly executed into doing meaningless tasks and psychologically leave an impression on the viewer.
“BBC Creative and Superunion have collaborated on a set of idents featuring a trio of hand-shaped characters — Captain, Spider and Pointer.” Creative Review
Captain? Spider? And Pointer? Are you kidding me? Pointer is the arsehole of the group. Always shaming the others with his offbeat points but Spider? That hand is an enigma!
“They’re a gloriously immature comic trio you can get totally lost with. The more time I’ve spent with them, the more I’ve had to wonder — am I directing the hands? Or are they directing me?” Robert Strange, Creative Review
