Britain Get Talking — The Break Through

If your relationship with your parents was anything like mine, then this short advert will hit home, hard. A father and daughter sit side by side at home. Talking but not really talking. They both have so much to say to each other but neither wants to open up.
This one feels personal. My Dad was never a big talker. He was happiest when he could support us financially. He very rarely showed his emotions. What I wouldn’t give to go back and have a chat with him. Talk about life. Learn from his wisdom. I don’t ever remember having one serious conversation as a teen with my Dad.
It's his generation. It's how he was brought up.
This new ad from ITV is part of their Britain Get Talking campaign. Previous initiatives included a pause during a live broadcast of Britain’s Got Talent with the presenters asking the viewers to take a moment and talk to their loved ones. This time its an awkward chat on the sofa. Unspoken words. Feelings that need airing but neither daughter or father want to break the code.
