It really isn't as black and white as you make it. Language evolves. Usage evolves. When we become aware that a term is offensive, then we should stop using it. There's a reason no bands are called The Spazzes. Yes, the 90s had questionable choices. All history is full of questionable choices from child labor and marrying children to slavery. Surely we're not comparing now to then and saying it was okay thirty years ago, why isn't it okay now?

As stated, England isn't just filled with white people who find the term offensive. Granted, there may well be more white people on social media getting upset, but times change and this isn't about racism.
