Real Emily’s In Paris Want You To Learn French
Duolingo
Duolingo takes a dig at Emily in Paris. A show that has a young woman stumble around Paris without speaking any French or appreciating French culture.
Duolingo even go as far as offering a month’s free subscription to any Emilys (who may or may not be in Paris). This is great advertising that launched to coincide with the new season of Emily.
“It’s a clever move to hijack the show and taps into the sense of fun that runs through Duolingo’s wider communications. Plus, as BETC creative director David Martin Angelus points out, “It’s always more entertaining when brands interact with culture instead of trying just to sell you their product.” Source Creative Review
