Such a great discussion! My wife kept her name but she hates the fact the kids are named after me. Why is it seen as easier for children to be named after the father? That's the point, at birth when the decision is made. I guess it's the usual routine. But if my wife was a single mother, no father in sight, nobody would be insisting on the kids be named after the dad. We simply fall into the social norms and customs don't we?
