The Story of Lidl Bear
Lidl GB
This is a story of a Lidl bear.
A simple bear who came to life thanks to the miracle of Christmas and one extreme wash that reduced knitwear to teddy-wear. It’s a rags-to-riches fable that has the bear losing the plot as stardom bursts into his life. Drugs, late-night partying, hookers, and copious amounts of alcohol follow in the x-rated version of his life.
The story of Lidl was made into a movie starring Mark Wahlberg and Ted the Bear. This PG version is less graphic and focuses more on a girl’s lost affection as she yearns for her lovable bear to return for Christmas.
You can’t help watching this and think of Ted. This one has an altogether sweeter ending. It’s well-filmed but like most Christmas adverts, it lacks originality. Maybe five Christmas ads in a row have left me a little jaded?
The positive news?
“Lidl Bear’s Toy Bank is a nationwide donation initiative, which includes a £125,000 donation from the brand, and will provide new and unwrapped toys and games to children across the UK through the Neighbourly community network.
