The Takeover
Stake
Anyone who has watched Jay-Z’s Story of OJ will instantly recognize this style. Stake, who aim to democratize the stock market for amateur traders have launched an ingenious advert. Delivered by poet and street lyricist Black Chakra, this is some hard-hitting advertising aimed squarely at taking down the fat pigs of the Wall Street elite.
“Relax, this isn’t a takeover, more of a makeover” raps Black Chakra. A brilliant satirical take that overtly picks holes in the whole banking system. From creative studio Bear Meets Eagle On Fire, and produced in collaboration with Augenblick Studios, the award-winning creators of Comedy Central’s Ugly Americans and Adult Swim’s The Jellies.
I love this ad. Seriously can’t get enough of this style. Will it appeal to a wider audience? I doubt it. It’s marketed to a niche Black audience and maybe that’s the whole point. Who needs to convince the usual demographic to bleed more money into stocks?
“Rather than tackling America’s historic race problem though, The Takeover is challenging the traditional fabric of the finance world.” Creative Review
