Well....if you study history, science is actually controlled by the government. Stalin employed a scientist whose programs on crops led to disaster but his marxist principles applied to crops was in line with the party manifesto.

And today, lobbyist in America dictate much of the governments stance on science. Take the war on sugar and then fats and then sugar again. Or the beef industry or pesticide use and GM foods. Big money controls the science and the narrative.

In medicine, we had thalidomide and other experimental drugs that was government policy.

Creationism is still taught in schools where the Theory of Evolution is debunked.

It's an endless list of science and data in correlation with the government. Money talks unfortunately.
